Overview

• The pursuit began just after midnight when Munster officers attempted to pull over a vehicle for a traffic violation.
• The driver refused to stop and led officers onto eastbound I-80/94 through Hammond.
• The vehicle left the roadway near the Cline Avenue exit, crashed and burst into flames on impact.
• The sole occupant was killed in the fiery crash, with no other injuries reported.
• Indiana State Police have opened an investigation and are withholding the driver’s identity pending family notification.
