FIEO and Amazon Launch Export Task Force to Scale Indian Ecommerce Exports

Sector workshops backed by regulatory consultations will build export readiness among MSMEs in India's tier II and III cities.

Overview

  • FIEO and Amazon formed a dedicated ecommerce export task force to shape policy frameworks and infrastructure support for Indian sellers.
  • Initial workshops are being scheduled across high-potential categories including home décor, health and personal care, apparel, toys, packaged foods and handicrafts.
  • Consultations with the Directorate General of Foreign Trade, Reserve Bank of India and Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs have commenced to craft an enabling regulatory environment for exporters.
  • The partnership will establish offline seller communities to offer hands-on assistance, peer learning and service provider access for MSMEs.
  • It builds on Amazon’s facilitation of over $13 billion in Indian exports and aligns with India’s $200–300 billion ecommerce export goal and Amazon’s $80 billion target by 2030.
