Overview
- Red Bull submitted its application months ago and the FIA will review Arvid Lindblad’s superlicence exemption at an Extraordinary General Assembly in Macau next week.
- Lindblad has amassed over 40 superlicence points through victories in Formula Regional Oceania, FIA F3 and Formula 4 and currently holds third place in the F2 standings.
- Article 13.1.2 of the FIA’s International Sporting Code now allows 17-year-olds to earn a superlicence if judged exceptionally talented, following a clause first used for Kimi Antonelli.
- Since Lindblad does not turn 18 until August 8, days after the Hungarian Grand Prix, he requires an exemption to take part in F1 practice sessions and serve as a reserve.
- Max Verstappen carries 11 penalty points and will face an automatic one-race ban if he receives one more before June 30, making Lindblad a ready backup alongside Ayumu Iwasa and other Red Bull juniors.
