Overview

  • In an official statement, the CIK-FIA said claims that karting now allows aerodynamic parts such as wings or modified floors are incorrect and not permitted at FIA-sanctioned events.
  • The FIA cited Article 4.6 of the Technical Regulations prohibiting floor-tray alterations, Article 3.2 barring changes to homologated bodywork, and Homologation Article 22 requiring air‑blow moulded bodywork that prevents adjustable aero features.
  • The federation stressed that only FIA‑approved, homologated components can be used, with crash-tested bodywork, a manufacturer numbering system, and scrutineering to enforce compliance.
  • Responding to safety concerns quoted from GPDA chairman Alex Wurz, the FIA said safety standards have been strengthened this year and signaled a forthcoming karting safety device initiative.
  • Motorsport Week and F1 media report the FIA intends to seek a retraction of the published claims, while coverage also questions the timing and publication route of the original interview.
