Overview
- After finishing eighth on track, Franco Colapinto was given a 10-second post-race penalty by FIA stewards for not slowing sufficiently under a single yellow flag, which dropped him to 15th and removed his points.
- Pierre Gasly received a separate sanction for failing to reduce speed under a double yellow, converted to a 30-second time addition, which relegated him from tenth to 17th and added two superlicence points.
- The stewards based both decisions on telemetry, positioning data, on‑board video and radio logs recorded in Document 85 and applied Article B1.8.4a of the F1 rules to judge insufficient deceleration.
- Colapinto publicly accepted responsibility and apologised to Alpine while the team described the weekend as a strong on-track performance with a disappointing outcome, and no appeal has been reported.
- The penalties cost Alpine the points both cars had scored in Mexico and added to Colapinto's tally of penalty points on his FIA superlicence, a system that tracks infractions over 12 months and can trigger a race ban if 12 points are reached.
