FIA and Formula E Reveal Gen4 Car as Manufacturers Begin Testing

With 600 kW and permanent all-wheel drive, the next‑gen single‑seater advances road relevance and circular design ahead of a 2026/27 launch.

Overview

  • The Gen4 package introduces 450 kW peak race power, 600 kW in Attack Mode, active all‑wheel drive, an active differential, up to 55 kWh usable energy and 700 kW regenerative braking.
  • Porsche, Nissan, Stellantis, Jaguar and Lola move into private track testing at Circuito Monteblanco as the integration phase begins following the official reveal.
  • FIA mule testing logged more than 8,000 km and recorded speeds well over 200 mph, with officials citing 0–60 mph in about 1.8 seconds and pace projections near F2 and within a few seconds of F1.
  • Expanded software freedoms will allow traction control and ABS, shifting development toward energy management and road‑relevant control systems.
  • The car is built from 100% recyclable materials with at least 20% recycled content, and Bridgestone returns as tyre supplier, as Gen4 readies for a Season 13 debut while Season 12 with Gen3 starts on December 6 in São Paulo.
