FGR Seizes 900 Kilograms of Methamphetamine in Chiapas Operation

Officials say the latest haul marks a significant advance in a yearlong campaign against cartel-run meth labs across Mexico

Overview

  • Federal agents from the Policía Federal Ministerial and the Agencia de Investigación Criminal operating under the Fiscalía General de la República intercepted 900 kg of methamphetamine in Palenque, Chiapas on August 7, 2025.
  • The raid also yielded a firearm, chemical reactors, approximately 500 bags of caustic soda and two vehicles.
  • All seized items have been handed over to the Federal Public Ministry and the Chiapas Federal Prosecutor’s Office for further investigation.
  • So far this year authorities have seized more than 140 tons of drugs and over 450 tons of precursor chemicals in coordinated lab dismantlement efforts.
  • Security forces have dismantled 839 clandestine meth labs, arrested nearly 18,700 suspects and confiscated over 9,600 weapons since October 2024.
