Fewer Germans Donate, But Total Contributions Reach New Highs

Despite economic challenges, donation amounts in Germany have risen, driven by fewer but larger individual contributions.

The total donation amount in Germany for the first nine months of 2024 reached €3.2 billion, with a projected annual increase of over 2% compared to 2023.
The average donation amount rose to €38, up by €1 from the previous year, while the number of donors decreased by 800,000.
Younger donors aged 30-39 showed a significant 24% increase in contributions, highlighting a growing trend of social engagement among this demographic.
Donations for humanitarian aid and disaster relief declined compared to 2023 but remained above pre-pandemic levels, reflecting the absence of major crises this year.
Sectors like education, culture, and environmental projects saw a notable increase in funding, with an additional €100 million in donations.
