Festivals, Pride March and Races Set to Transform Philadelphia Streets This Weekend

Closures running through early June aim to control congestion as tens of thousands head to concerts, pride events, race routes.

Overview

  • The Roots Picnic at the Mann Center kicks off May 31 and June 1 with over 30,000 attendees expected daily and headliners including D’Angelo, Lenny Kravitz and Meek Mill.
  • The Pride March departs Sixth and Walnut Streets at 11 a.m. June 1, followed by a festival from noon to 7 p.m. around 11th and Locust Streets in the Gayborhood.
  • The American Cancer Society Bike-A-Thon begins at 6 a.m. June 1 near Independence Mall with road closures starting at 4 a.m. for thousands of cyclists en route to the Shore.
  • Philly Run Fest’s 5K, 10K and 15K races loop through Fairmount Park on June 1 from 7:30 a.m. until noon, creating intermittent access restrictions on park roads.
  • Extended closures on major arteries through June 5 have converted closed streets into no-parking zones and prompted officials to recommend SEPTA’s Mann Loop Bus for Roots Picnic transit.
