FES Cuautitlán Protesters Open Toll Booth as City Starts Emergency Repairs

The campus keeps teaching online during a push for a binding plan to rebuild key corridors.

Overview

  • Students, neighbors and the Xochitla Vive collective briefly blocked local roads and then opened the Tepotzotlán toll booth for free passage to demand a comprehensive road and drainage overhaul around Campus 4.
  • Their demands include finishing the main collector, repairing drainage, laying hydraulic concrete, expanding the CuautitlánTeoloyucan highway to four lanes, and creating pedestrian corridors and safe routes.
  • Cuautitlán Izcalli authorities said on Facebook that crews began work Monday on Avenida Jesús Jiménez Gallardo with drainage repairs, suction of standing water and pothole patching.
  • FES Cuautitlán suspended in‑person classes from October 8 to 22 and says instruction continues online pending a review of access and mobility conditions after the current works.
  • Protesters cite years of neglect, worsening truck traffic from logistics hubs, extreme delays that can stretch trips to four hours, and a May incident in which five students died after a car fell into the Emisor Poniente canal.
