Overview

  • Fabio Barone made a full-length pass across the 236-meter flight deck of the Italian Navy’s Nave Trieste in Civitavecchia.
  • An official timekeeper measured 164 km/h (about 102 mph) and announced it as the new mark over his 152 km/h set last year.
  • The team plans to submit certified data, and Guinness told reporters it looks forward to receiving and assessing the evidence.
  • Engineers had flagged risk after the deck was found wet from an overnight sortie, and crews dried the surface before the attempt.
  • Barone drove a red-and-black Ferrari SF90, completed warm-up runs, and braked before the carrier’s ski-jump as media and guests looked on.
