Feria del Libro de Mendoza Opens at Le Parc

Provincial leaders are using a federal tour and a 600,000‑peso stand fee paid in books to boost youth reading and renew the Biblioteca Pública General San Martín.

Overview

  • The fair opened Thursday, Oct. 1 at Espacio Cultural Julio Le Parc and runs through Oct. 11 with free admission and a daily program of workshops, talks, screenings and performances.
  • This edition centers on children’s and young adult literature (LIJ) with school‑focused activities run by the Dirección General de Escuelas and LIJ specialists to reach younger readers.
  • Organizers confirmed a federal, itinerant schedule that will take simultaneous activities to San Rafael (Oct. 2–4), Junín (Oct. 4–5), Malargüe (Oct. 6–7), La Paz (Oct. 8–9) and Tunuyán (Oct. 9–10).
  • The provincial Subsecretaría of Culture said the 600,000‑peso stand canon paid by each bookseller or publisher will be delivered in copies to replenish the Biblioteca Pública General San Martín, with financial backing from the Consejo Federal de Inversiones.
  • More than 200 Mendoza authors share the bill with national guests such as Hernán Casciari, Felipe Pigna and Martín Kohan, and the mix of talks and concerts is intended to widen public access to books and strengthen local library and school collections.
