Felony Charges Against Jackson Mahomes Dropped, Misdemeanor Remains

Prosecutors in Kansas dismiss three felony charges after alleged victim refuses to testify, claiming the encounter was consensual. Mahomes still faces trial for a remaining misdemeanor battery charge.

  • Jackson Mahomes, brother of NFL star Patrick Mahomes, has had three felony charges of aggravated sexual battery dropped by prosecutors in Kansas. The charges were related to an incident in February 2023 where Mahomes was accused of forcibly kissing Aspen Vaughn, the owner of a restaurant in Overland Park, Kansas.
  • Prosecutors filed a motion to dismiss the charges after Vaughn refused to testify and claimed the encounter with Mahomes was consensual. She also stated she had not been truthful with the police.
  • Despite Vaughn's refusal to testify, prosecutors initially intended to proceed with the case, citing surveillance footage that captured the incident. However, they noted that Vaughn was 'actively thwarting attempts' to avoid coming to court.
  • Mahomes still faces a misdemeanor battery charge related to the same night, where he is accused of shoving a waiter at the restaurant. His attorney, Brandon Davies, maintains that Mahomes has done nothing wrong.
  • Vaughn closed her restaurant in August 2023, citing the negative publicity from the case, death threats, harassment, and vandalism as reasons for the closure. A trial for the remaining misdemeanor charge against Mahomes is scheduled for March 25, 2024.
