Federal Raids on California Cannabis Farms Erupt in Clashes

Under President Trump’s mass deportation plan, federal agents detained about 100 workers during protests at two licensed cannabis farm sites.

Overview

  • DHS law enforcement agents supported by ICE, CBP, Border Patrol and National Guard executed search warrants on July 10 at Glass House Farms facilities in Camarillo and Carpinteria.
  • Officers deployed military-style vehicles, helicopters, tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse roughly 500 protesters who had blocked Laguna Road.
  • Glass House Farms said it fully complied with the warrants served by ICE, noting earlier resistance when agents attempted a June inspection.
  • Ventura County Fire Department personnel treated several injured individuals and transported at least three to nearby hospitals after clashes.
  • Homeland Security Investigations has offered a $50,000 reward following an alleged pistol shot fired at federal officers during the standoff.
