Federal Police Step Up Checks at Major Stations Nationwide This Weekend

The coordinated push targets violence hotspots, with a limited ban on dangerous items at four Bavarian hubs.

Overview

  • From November 14 to 16, officers will increase presence and controls at more than ten large stations, including Munich, Nuremberg, Regensburg, Aschaffenburg, Stuttgart, Mannheim and Hamburg.
  • In Bavaria, a general order bans carrying tools, firearms, knives and pyrotechnics at the four named stations from Friday 3 p.m. to Sunday 3 a.m.
  • Stuttgart’s main station is among the hotspots cited, with 3,792 offenses recorded in 2024, including 220 violent crimes, according to federal data.
  • Hamburg continues its strict weapons and control regime, reporting roughly 1,200 weapons seized at the main station since 2023 and 80 targeted operations across the wider transit network since late 2024.
  • Authorities point to October’s nationwide sweep—over 11,000 checks, more than 230 cases opened, dozens of violent crime and weapons cases, and 23 warrants executed—as the basis for the renewed operation.
