Federal prosecutors say a 10‑month ATF‑led probe into violent activity around an Aurora apartment complex led investigators to bring federal charges with alleged leaders detained overseas pending extradition.

Overview

  • Two federal indictments filed Monday charge 30 people in total; 28 were charged in the United States and 24 of those are in federal custody while two alleged leaders arrested July 30 in Colombia remain detained pending extradition.
  • The 39‑count indictment accuses defendants of firearms trafficking, using firearms to facilitate drug trafficking, unlawful possession of firearms by noncitizens, trafficking methamphetamine, cocaine and pink 'Tusi', and names five defendants in a conspiracy to commit murder‑for‑hire.
  • Undercover operations over roughly 10 months culminated in the seizure of 69 firearms, including automatic machineguns, with ballistics investigators linking many of the weapons to numerous shootings, carjackings and robberies in the DenverAurora area.
  • Investigators also seized several pounds of narcotics including fentanyl, methamphetamine and pink 'Tusi' and allege defendants sold drugs and trafficked guns to undercover agents during about 40 undercover operations.
  • The operation was led by the ATF with the DEA, HSI, ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations and local police, received investigative support from Colombian GAULA Elite and DOJ international offices, and is being pursued under Joint Task Force Vulcan and Operation Take Back America following Tren de Aragua's February 2025 FTO designation.
