Overview

  • Federal authorities allocated 1,700 million pesos to rebuild two vehicular overpasses on the Periférico Oriente that have been closed since the 2017 earthquake.
  • Demolition has started on the 500-meter span toward the State of Mexico, while planning and design proceed in parallel for the 700-meter return bridge.
  • The smaller bridge is scheduled to reopen in May 2026, followed by completion of the longer span in October 2027.
  • The project will generate about 1,373 jobs and restore a vital corridor used by some 65,000 vehicles every day.
  • These works form part of the Plan Integral del Oriente del Valle de México, which encompasses 121 actions to improve mobility and services for roughly one million residents.
