Federal Government Authorizes IBGE to Hire 325 Temporary Workers

The order gives IBGE six months to publish a public notice that will set pay, eligibility and the timetable for a simplified selection process.

Overview

  • The authorization was published in the Diário Oficial on Tuesday and is formalized by Portaria Conjunta MGI/MPO nº 70 signed by ministers Esther Dweck and Bruno Moretti.
  • The 325 vacancies are split into 276 Telephone Research Agent posts and 49 Telephone Research Supervisor posts for statistical and geoscientific work.
  • The hires must follow a processo seletivo simplificado with wide publicity and legal vacancy‑reservation rules, but the authorization itself does not open applications.
  • IBGE has until April 20, 2027 to issue the edital that will define salaries, education requirements, work locations and exam dates, and only that edital will start the selection.
  • Contracts will be for a fixed term and may be extended if justified, with pay set under Law nº 8.745/1993 and costs charged to personnel and social‑charges lines in the 2027 budget framework.
