Federal Forensics Begin on Eight Bitcoin Wallets Linked to Manuel Adorni

Prosecutors have ordered a technical cyber‑forensic report to determine who controlled the wallets during 2014–2018.

Overview

  • On Thursday, prosecutors and PFA technicians verified that the eight Bitcoin addresses exist, that challenge messages signed with private keys produced valid signatures, and that Adorni’s lawyers currently hold the access keys.
  • The prosecutor asked the PFA’s Cibercrimen unit to answer 29 technical questions aimed at establishing who controlled the wallets between October 2014 and September 2018.
  • Adorni previously told investigators he earned US$591,544 from Bitcoin trades made in 2014 and 2017, sold the coins for cash in person, and kept the cash at home until December 2023.
  • Investigators flagged forensic limits and anomalies: five addresses show deposits in 2014 with no clear exchange links, all eight had zero balances from March 26, 2017 to September 11, 2018, and blockchain records and key possession today do not by themselves prove historical control.
  • The court file now includes conventional financial probes—income reconstruction, lifting fiscal secrecy and review of foreign‑currency purchases—to cross‑check the crypto findings and support the asset‑justification investigation before Judge Ariel Lijo.
