Federal Culture Plan in Michoacán Rolls Out 15 Calls, MXN 103 Million for Community Projects

Monthly progress reports to the president will track community-led implementation with UNESCO and INAH guidance.

Overview

  • The program is moving forward through 15 calls, with ProFest and PACMyC among the first active and further notices to be posted by the Culture Ministry.
  • Planned actions include maintenance at 15 heritage properties and interventions in archaeological zones alongside funding for cultural infrastructure.
  • Michoacán’s culture secretary said none of those 15 sites fall under Secum’s administration, except Pátzcuaro’s Ex Colegio Jesuita, which will receive Fonatur tourism resources.
  • Community initiatives include 100 choirs across the state, workshops and a diploma on community memory, plus reading efforts such as new public libraries, a Librobús tour and 100,000 free FCE books.
  • The design followed a November–December 2025 diagnostic with more than 500 participants, and results will be presented monthly to the president with methodologies developed in coordination with UNESCO and INAH.
