Federal Court Launches 50-Day Search of Four Corrientes Lagoons in Loan Peña Case

The operation targets water bodies near the Pérez–Caillava farm under Unified Command oversight to recover evidence about the child’s whereabouts.

  • Judge Cristina Pozzer Penzo authorized coordinated searches, raids and records in rural 9 de Julio through Resolution No. 527/2025.
  • Teams begin November 10 with simultaneous aquatic and ground work across four lagoons around Route 113 near the eucalypt grove by the suspects’ property, set for 50 days with possible extension.
  • The Comando Unificado Corrientes will coordinate SIFEBU, Prefectura Naval, the Federal Police, Corrientes Police and technical bodies including ICAA, SENASA, Flora and Fauna, volunteer firefighters and the 9 de Julio municipality.
  • Measures include controlled access, mandatory photo and video documentation, strict chain of custody, external witnesses and potential raids on nearby rural structures with use of public force if required.
  • The family’s legal team will participate in the procedures, the appellate court extended the investigation period to November 29, and several defendants including María Victoria Caillava and Carlos Pérez remain processed or detained.
