Federal Charges Unsealed Against 11 in Texas ICE Facility Ambush

Prosecutors say the suspects could face at least 10 years to life in prison with evidence including rifles, body armor and anti-ICE propaganda

Overview

  • Ten defendants are charged with three counts of attempted murder and three counts of discharging a firearm in furtherance of a violent crime, and an eleventh faces an obstruction charge.
  • Federal authorities allege the group used fireworks and graffiti to lure ICE corrections officers into a kill zone at the Prairieland Detention Facility.
  • During raids over the weekend investigators seized an AR-style rifle, 12 sets of body armor, spray paint, flags reading “resist fascism, fight oligarchy” and flyers urging “fight ice terror with class war.”
  • The suspects, who hail from Fort Worth, Dallas, Kennedale, Waxahachie and College Station, are in federal custody pending trial.
  • The Alvarado police officer wounded in the July 4 exchange has been released from care and the FBI continues to assist prosecutors as the case moves forward.
