The FDA has warned against the consumption of WanaBana apple cinnamon fruit puree pouches due to potentially high lead levels. The issue was discovered after four children in North Carolina showed elevated lead levels.
The WanaBana products have been distributed nationwide across various stores and online platforms including Sam's Club, Amazon, and the Dollar Tree.
In response to the FDA's warning, WanaBana has voluntarily recalled all apple cinnamon fruit puree pouches, irrespective of the expiration date.
The FDA is urging parents and caregivers to get their children tested if they have consumed these products. A blood test can help in checking for elevated lead levels.
Additionally, the FDA is working alongside health officials to remove all of these pouches from store shelves.
