Overview

  • On July 8 the FDA escalated the June 17 voluntary recall of Weaver Nut Company’s semi-sweet chocolate nonpareils to Class I, its highest risk category.
  • The reclassification follows a customer complaint and lab tests that confirmed the presence of milk proteins in products labeled as milk-free.
  • The recall covers specific lots of Semi-Sweet Chocolate Nonpareils (Christmas Seeds, Item #47518) and White Seeds (Item #D2645) sold nationwide through retail and grocery stores.
  • Although no illnesses have been reported, the FDA warns people with milk allergies they risk serious or life-threatening reactions if they consume the affected items.
  • Consumers with milk allergies are urged to stop using the products immediately, return them for a full refund, and contact Weaver Nut Company with any questions.
