FDA Recall Targets 83,800 Bags of Shrimp Over Possible Cesium-137 Exposure

FDA advises discarding recalled shrimp due to possible cesium-137 exposure.

  • Direct Source Seafood LLC initiated the recall in an FDA notice dated Dec. 19 covering frozen raw shrimp imported from Indonesia.
  • Impacted products include Market 32 1‑lb bags (UPC 041735013583; best-by 04/22/27–04/27/27) and Waterfront Bistro 2‑lb bags (UPC 02113013224‑9; best-by Apr 25–26, 2027).
  • Market 32 bags were sold at Price Chopper stores in CT, MA, NH, NY, PA and VT on or after July 11, 2025.
  • Waterfront Bistro bags were sold at Jewel-Osco, Albertsons, Safeway and Lucky stores in CO, IA, ID, IL, IN, MT, ND, NV, OR, UT and WY on or after June 30, 2025.
  • No illnesses have been reported; consumers should not eat the shrimp and may return it for a refund or call Direct Source Seafood at 425-455-2291 (Mon–Fri, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. PT).
