Overview

  • The advisory names three Great Value raw frozen shrimp lot codes linked to Indonesian exporter PT. Bahari Makmur Sejati (BMS Foods).
  • Consumers, retailers and distributors are instructed to discard the listed lots and to avoid eating, serving or selling them, with those who consumed the product urged to consult a physician.
  • The FDA says cesium-137 was identified in a single shipment retained by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and no contaminated lots have entered U.S. commerce to date.
  • The retained shipment registered approximately 68 Bq/kg of Cs-137, a level reported as below a cited 1,200 Bq/kg reference point.
  • Reports indicate the exporter has been placed on an import-restricted list for automatic detention at U.S. ports while authorities investigate potential health risks from Cs-137 exposure.
