Overview

  • The FDA identified three affected Great Value raw frozen shrimp lots — 8005540-1, 8005538-1 and 8005539-1 — all with a best-by date of March 15, 2027.
  • The shrimp was processed by Indonesia’s PT. Bahari Makmur Sejati (BMS Foods), which the FDA placed on a new import alert to block entry until further notice.
  • Walmart received implicated raw shrimp, and the agency has recommended a recall of bags sold in 13 states.
  • CBP reported Cesium-137 alerts in containers at the ports of Los Angeles, Houston, Miami and Savannah, and all shipments that tested positive or alerted were denied entry.
  • Consumers and distributors are urged to discard the specified lots, with officials noting no acute hazard at detected levels but a potential long-term cancer risk from repeated exposure.
