Overview

  • U.S. Customs and Border Protection detected cesium-137 in containers tied to PT. Bahari Makmur Sejati at the ports of Los Angeles, Houston, Savannah and Miami, prompting an FDA advisory.
  • Walmart withdrew specific Great Value raw frozen shrimp from stores in 13 states at the FDA’s request, and customers are urged to discard matching products or return them for a refund.
  • The FDA identified three affected lot codes—8005540-1, 8005538-1 and 8005539-1—with an expiration date of March 15, 2027.
  • An FDA-tested detained shipment measured roughly 68 Bq/kg of cesium-137, below the agency’s 1,200 Bq/kg intervention level, yet authorities are acting out of caution.
  • The FDA placed the Indonesian processor on an import-restricted list, is detaining implicated shipments, and reports no confirmed contaminated lots above intervention levels entering U.S. commerce.
