FDA Expands Listeria-Linked Tuna Meal Recall to Randalls and Albertsons in Four States

With no reported illnesses so far, officials urge consumers to dispose of recalled tuna meals followed by thorough sanitization of contact surfaces.

The recalled items include deli tuna sold by weight, pre-packed containers, tuna salad sandwiches, snack trays, and sandwich platters.

Overview

  • FDA’s voluntary recall covers ten prepared tuna meal products from Reser’s Fine Foods sold with use-by dates July 16–19 at Randalls and Albertsons stores in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana.
  • Breadcrumbs included in the recalled items may contain listeria monocytogenes, a pathogen particularly dangerous to children, elderly, pregnant women and immunocompromised people.
  • This expansion follows an earlier July 21 recall of similar tuna salads at Jewel-Osco stores in Illinois, Indiana and Iowa.
  • No illnesses or adverse reactions have been linked to the affected products so far.
  • Consumers are advised to discard or return the recalled meals and to thoroughly clean any surfaces that came into contact with them.
