The Rosenberg Frito-Lay facility currently operates seven manufacturing lines that produce Lay's potato chips, Tostitos, Doritos, Cheetos, Baked Cheetos, Fritos and Tostitos Scoops. The Food and Drug Administration this week upgraded the recall of Frito-Lay's Tostitos Cantina-style corn chips to the agency's most severe classification.

Overview

  • The FDA has upgraded the recall to Class I, its most serious category, due to undeclared milk in mislabeled Tostitos Cantina Traditional Yellow Corn Tortilla Chips.
  • Approximately 1,300 bags of the affected chips, potentially containing nacho cheese chips, were distributed across 13 states and online platforms.
  • Consumers with milk allergies or sensitivities are strongly advised not to consume the product and to dispose of it immediately.
  • No allergic reactions or adverse health incidents have been reported to date, according to Frito-Lay and PepsiCo statements.
  • The recall highlights ongoing concerns about allergen labeling and quality control in the food industry, following similar incidents involving Frito-Lay products in late 2024.
