Overview
- The FBI has released seeking-information posters naming Reza Amiri Moghadam, Taghi Daneshvar and Gholamhossein Mohammadnia as suspects in retired agent Robert Levinson’s 2007 kidnapping.
- Moghadam led MOIS operations and now serves as Iran’s ambassador to Pakistan, Daneshvar oversaw counterespionage tied to the abduction and Mohammadnia was expelled as Iran’s envoy to Albania in 2018.
- In March the Treasury Department sanctioned all three under President Biden’s Executive Order 14078 and the Robert Levinson Hostage Recovery and Hostage-Taking Accountability Act.
- The FBI is offering a $5 million reward for information on Levinson’s location and body recovery while the State Department’s Rewards for Justice program has pledged up to $20 million.
- Officials are urging anyone with relevant information to submit tips through fbi.gov or the Rewards for Justice portal to help recover Levinson’s remains and hold those responsible accountable.
