FBI Pittsburgh Leads Weeklong Operation, Arrests 19 Fugitives Across States

Officials linked the arrests to the FBI’s Summer Heat initiative, which mobilizes multiagency teams to pursue violent offenders.

  • The coordinated push ran Oct. 6–10 and involved FBI Pittsburgh, the U.S. Marshals Service, the Allegheny County Sheriff's Office and Pittsburgh's Fugitive Apprehension Unit.
  • Targets were wanted for offenses including drug trafficking, firearms possession, sexual battery of a child, rape of children, terroristic threats and human trafficking.
  • Three firearms were seized along with 28.8 grams of crack cocaine, 77.6 grams of heroin and fentanyl, and 722.6 grams of marijuana, with officials also reporting cash recoveries.
  • Arrests connected to the operation extended beyond western Pennsylvania, including a USMS arrest in Kansas City, Kansas on a federal warrant alleging sexual assaults of two minors and an FBI arrest in Winston-Salem, North Carolina for stalking and related offenses.
  • FBI Pittsburgh said its SWAT team deployed to an address in Penn Hills during the effort, and officials did not disclose the specific reason for that response.
