FBI Operation in California Apprehends Eight in Gang Kidnapping Case, Including NIA Most-Wanted

Suspects include Pavittar Singh Batala, wanted under an Interpol red notice for BKI links; they are booked on felony charges with U.S.-India authorities coordinating possible extradition.

  • On July 11, the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office AGNET unit, FBI SWAT and three local SWAT teams executed five coordinated search warrants under the FBI’s Summer Heat initiative.
  • Officers arrested eight Indian-origin men, among them Pavittar Singh Batala, who faced an Interpol Red Corner Notice for ties to Babbar Khalsa International.
  • The suspects were booked on multiple felonies covering kidnapping, torture, false imprisonment, conspiracy, assault with a semiautomatic firearm, threats to terrorize and gang enhancement.
  • Officials seized five handguns including a fully automatic Glock, an assault rifle, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, high-capacity magazines and more than $15,000 in cash.
