FBI Offers $25,000 Reward in 1978 Disappearance of Webster Boy Andrew Amato

Investigators are renewing the case with an underwater search in Burrillville to spur tips that could explain what happened.

  • Andrew Amato was 4 when he vanished on Sept. 30, 1978 near the Ash Street Trailer Park after his sister and cousin left to get help when he dropped a toy by a brook along what is now I-395.
  • Investigators say they have conducted nearly 100 interviews and followed leads nationwide, including a recent search by the FBI Underwater Search and Evidence Response Team in Burrillville, Rhode Island.
  • Authorities released updated materials and asked anyone with information to call 1-800-CALL-FBI or Webster Police at 508-943-1212 ext. 1250, or to submit tips online at tips.fbi.gov.
  • Sister Michelle Amato urged the public to come forward, saying any clue could bring long-awaited answers and closure for their father.
