FBI Investigates Los Angeles Deputy Mayor for Alleged Bomb Threat to City Hall

Brian Williams, Deputy Mayor for Public Safety, was placed on administrative leave after an FBI search linked him to a bomb threat earlier this year.

The FBI searched the Pasadena home of Los Angeles Deputy Mayor Brian Williams on Tuesday in connection with an alleged bomb threat targeting City Hall earlier this year.
The Los Angeles Police Department initially identified Williams as the likely source of the threat and referred the case to the FBI due to their working relationship with him.
Williams, who oversees public safety, including police and fire departments, was immediately placed on administrative leave following the search.
Officials stated that the LAPD's investigation found no immediate danger from the bomb threat, but further inquiries were handed over to the FBI for a more detailed investigation.
Brian Williams has held multiple government roles, including seven years as executive director of the Los Angeles County Sheriff Civilian Oversight Commission, before his appointment as deputy mayor in 2023.
