Overview

  • The FBI, working with the Netherlands’ Fiscal Information and Investigation Service, obtained a seizure warrant under 18 U.S.C. 2323 from the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.
  • Nsw2u, a leading online repository for Nintendo Switch game ROMs, now redirects to an FBI seizure notice following the July 10 operation.
  • The takedown follows Nsw2u’s inclusion on an EU piracy watchlist in May and Nintendo’s recent legal actions against ROM sites and modchip sellers.
  • Since the Switch 2 launch in June, Nintendo has permanently banned consoles using unauthorized accessories or pirated software from accessing its online services.
  • Nintendo has not issued a public comment since the site went offline, but its multi-pronged anti-piracy strategy combining litigation and technical restrictions remains active.
