Overview
- Authorities identified the gunman as 29-year-old Joshua Jahn, who killed one detainee, critically wounded two others and then died by a self-inflicted gunshot.
- Investigators say Jahn downloaded a Dallas DHS facilities document, searched ballistics and the “Charlie Kirk Shot Video,” and used apps that tracked ICE agents.
- A handwritten note read, “Hopefully this will give ICE agents real terror,” and an unfired casing at the scene was marked “ANTI-ICE,” the FBI said.
- The FBI is treating the shooting as a targeted act of violence; all those shot were detainees in a transport van and no ICE personnel were injured.
- DHS increased security at ICE sites nationwide and the Dallas field office paused some check-ins, while agents review additional leads including an unconfirmed vehicle with a “radioactive fallout” map.
