Overview

  • Sixteen suspected Anti-Tren members were arrested in Houston on July 2 following coordinated raids by federal, state and local law enforcement
  • Fourteen of those detained face conspiracy charges for intending to distribute more than five kilograms of cocaine
  • Jose Miguel Briceno is separately indicted under the Alien Enemies Act for unlawful ammunition possession after a March mass shooting at a sports bar left six wounded
  • Operation Take Back America is spearheaded by the Department of Justice’s Joint Task Force Vulcan in partnership with the FBI, DEA, ICE, U.S. Marshals, ATF and local agencies
  • If convicted, defendants could receive life sentences and up to $10 million in fines on drug counts and up to 15 years in prison with $250,000 fines for firearms offenses
