FBI Captures Fugitive Wanted for 2012 Wedding Night Murder in Mexico

Arnoldo Jimenez, on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted list since 2019, was arrested after nearly 13 years on the run for the fatal stabbing of his wife, Estrella Carrera, in Illinois.

  • Arnoldo Jimenez, 42, was arrested in Monterrey, Mexico, on Thursday in connection with the 2012 murder of his wife, Estrella Carrera, in Burbank, Illinois.
  • Carrera, 26, was found dead in her bathtub less than 48 hours after their wedding, still wearing her silver dress from the ceremony.
  • Jimenez had fled the United States shortly after the murder, and his name was added to the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted list in 2019, with a reward for his capture rising to $250,000.
  • Authorities believe Jimenez killed Carrera in his car following an argument after their wedding reception and later moved her body to the apartment.
  • Jimenez was taken into custody without incident by Mexican authorities working with the FBI and will face extradition proceedings to the United States.
