FBI Arrests Key Participants in Jan. 6 Capitol Riots

  • Michael Haltom, one of the earliest entrants into the Capitol during the Jan. 6, 2021 riots, has been arrested by the FBI, 2.5 years after the event.
  • Haltom is charged with multiple felony and misdemeanor offenses, including civil disorder and obstruction of an official proceeding.
  • Video footage and records obtained through a search warrant served on Google show Haltom's presence and active participation in the riots, including pushing past barricades and gesturing for fellow rioters to do the same.
  • Haltom also made his way to the House Speaker's Lobby, where he and other rioters caused visible damage to the door.
  • Another rioter, Andy Steven Oliva-Lopez from Oregon, was also arrested and charged with felony offenses of assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain law enforcement officers, as well as a civil disorder charge.
