Overview

  • The FBI seized the Nsw2u domain under a warrant from the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia invoking 18 U.S.C. §2323.
  • The Dutch Fiscal Information and Investigation Service joined the operation, highlighting international cooperation in targeting online piracy infrastructure.
  • Nsw2u had been flagged on the EU’s Counterfeit and Piracy Watchlist in May for hosting thousands of ROMs that bypassed legal Switch game distribution.
  • Since the Switch 2’s June launch, Nintendo has bricked or permanently banned consoles using unauthorized cartridges to reinforce its platform protection policies.
  • The seizure adds to Nintendo’s anti-piracy toolkit alongside legal actions such as last year’s $2.4 million settlement with Yuzu emulator developer Tropic Haze.
