Overview

  • Ryan Fazio officially launched his campaign on Aug. 13, pledging to cut electric rates by 20%, eliminate the public benefits charge and reduce income and property taxes.
  • New Britain Mayor Erin Stewart has raised more than $300,000 in small-dollar donations toward public financing qualification and is on track to meet thresholds by September.
  • Westport First Selectman Jennifer Tooker and perennial candidate Peter Lumaj are also courting support from the 1,200 convention delegates.
  • State Republican Chairman Ben Proto has remained neutral and said Stewart’s fundraising advantage gives her a significant edge in accessing public campaign funds.
  • Gov. Ned Lamont has yet to formally declare his re-election bid; he is widely expected to run, leaving the GOP nominee’s fundraising and delegate strategy as critical factors heading into 2026.
