Faulty Overhead Line at Boxtel Halts Regional Trains

ProRail located the defect, reopened most services and plans overnight de-energization of tracks to finish repairs so normal timetables can resume Tuesday.

Overview

  • Train services to, from and via the Boxtel junction were suspended on Monday evening, stopping connections between Eindhoven, Tilburg, Den Bosch and Breda.
  • NS initially estimated disruption might last until about 22:30, while ProRail first said the cause was unknown and gave no clear repair time.
  • ProRail later found the fault and allowed most traffic to restart, with only reduced sprinter service remaining between Boxtel and Eindhoven.
  • To complete the repair safely, ProRail will make the affected tracks spanningsloos (de-energize them) after the end of service and carry out overnight work.
  • ProRail expects the timetable to return to normal on Tuesday, and passengers should check NS updates before travel if they plan to use routes through Boxtel.
