'Fauda' Crew Member Matan Meir Killed in Gaza Conflict

Second Tragic Loss for the Controversial Israeli Netflix Drama Amid Ongoing Israel-Hamas War

Matan Meir, a crew member on the Israeli Netflix drama 'Fauda', was killed in action in Gaza. He was a 38-year-old reservist in Israel's 551st Brigade's 697th Battalion.
Meir was one of four Israel Defense Forces soldiers killed by a blast from a booby-trapped tunnel in northern Gaza.
'Fauda', created by former IDF soldiers Lior Raz and Avi Isaacharoff, has faced criticism for its depiction of the conflict between Israel and Palestine.
In 2018, Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) activists urged Netflix to drop 'Fauda' from its streaming platform, calling the series 'racist propaganda for the Israeli occupying army'.
This is the second tragic loss for the 'Fauda' crew in recent times, as sound editor Lior Waitzman was killed in Hamas' attacks on Israel in October.
