Overview
- Around 3:16 p.m. Friday on the 2600 block of South Emerald Avenue, three men confronted 42-year-old Ting Chui, pointed a gun at him, and pistol-whipped him while his 4-year-old daughter stood nearby.
- The assailants took Chui’s belongings and fled in his vehicle, which police later found on the 300 block of South Maplewood in Lawndale.
- Chui said the recovered car was not drivable and had a bullet hole in the hood, while police have not linked the vehicle to any other crimes.
- Home surveillance video captured the attack outside the family’s Bridgeport residence, and Chui’s wife said she and their other child were inside at the time.
- No arrests have been made, and a reward of $6,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest as the investigation continues.
