Overview

  • A federal judge set Narciso Barranco’s bond at $3,000 on July 10 and he was released from the Adelanto ICE facility on July 11.
  • Video footage from late June captures Border Patrol agents punching and pepper-spraying Barranco while he was pinned to the ground in Santa Ana.
  • The Department of Homeland Security alleges he swung a weed whacker at an agent and resisted arrest, a claim his family says misrepresents his efforts to shield himself from pepper spray.
  • Barranco has lived in the United States for more than 30 years, has no criminal record and is the father of three active-duty U.S. Marines.
  • He will remain out of custody until a mid-August hearing to pursue Parole in Place status available to military relatives.
