Father Kills Daughter Opposing Arranged Marriage in Front of Police and Community Leaders

The 20-year-old victim, Tanu Gurjar, was shot dead by her father in Gwalior after publicly rejecting a family-arranged marriage, just days before her wedding.

Tanu Gurjar, 20, was killed by her father, Mahesh Gurjar, in Gwalior after she opposed an arranged marriage and expressed her wish to marry someone of her choice.
The murder occurred in front of police officers and a community panchayat convened to mediate the family dispute.
Hours before her death, Tanu posted a video on social media accusing her family of threatening her life and forcing her into the marriage.
Her father used a country-made firearm to shoot her, while her cousin Rahul allegedly fired additional shots; Mahesh was arrested at the scene, but Rahul fled and remains at large.
The police have seized the murder weapon and are investigating the incident, which has been described as a case of honor killing.
