Overview

• Juvenal Antero, a 24-year-old father, was shot and killed during a home invasion in Dallas, Texas, while protecting his 4-year-old son and pregnant wife, Elizabel Cardenas.
• Two men knocked on the family's door asking for a plunger, then forced their way in and one of them pointed a gun at Antero's son.
• Antero jumped in front of his son and was shot by the intruders, but was able to return fire before collapsing.
• Cardenas, who is 11 weeks pregnant, was scheduled to hear their baby's heartbeat for the first time in a sonogram appointment, which she will now attend alone.
• No arrests have been made and the suspects remain at large.
