- The 49-year-old military officer collapsed around 11:30 AM near the Monte Calvario monument during a hike with his son
- His 10-year-old son called 112 on his father's phone and performed CPR under remote guidance from emergency dispatchers
- Despite the boy's efforts, the father died in his arms before rescuers from ambulance, police, firefighters and alpine teams arrived
- Giulio Trillò, head of the regional emergency health structure, said no one could have done more to save him
- After the incident, responders accompanied the boy home to his mother and the case was turned over to local authorities
