Father Charged in Fatal Shooting of 10-Year-Old by His Son
Arkete Davis faces charges after his son allegedly shot and killed Keith Frierson, but the boy will not be charged, sparking outcry from the victim's mother.
- 10-year-old Keith Frierson was fatally shot by another 10-year-old boy after winning a bike race in their condominium complex in Foothill Farms, California.
- The alleged shooter, who was initially arrested and booked on a murder charge, will not face charges. The Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office stated that the sole criminal liability and responsibility for the child’s death lay exclusively with the shooter's father, Arkete Davis.
- Davis, a convicted felon legally prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm, has been charged with gun-related charges, child endangerment, and being an accessory to the crime. The gun used in the shooting had been reported stolen in 2017.
- Davis allegedly disposed of the gun in a trash can following the shooting. Witnesses reported that Davis did not aid or approach the victim after the shooting.
- Keith Frierson's mother, Brittani Frierson, has expressed her disbelief and grief over the lack of charges against the boy who shot her son, stating that there needs to be some type of consequence for her son's death.
